To all of our Palestine blog readers: You may be interested to know we are currently working on two potential new Peace Team locations in addition to our current work.
We need to know if you, our community, support this work and if you are willing to be a part of it! We are asking for those with knowledge or work/volunteer experience in the region to be a part of the advisory committee, and we are also looking for Spanish Speakers who might consider being on a team.
Let us know if you are interested. The first information and skills session is June 6 - 9th, 2013 at our offices in Lansing; please consider attending this nonviolence and community building retreat to learn more about these exciting possibilities.
Sincerely,
Nicole
MPT

New Prospective International Team Locations
Honduras & El Salvador
MPT is currently completing a detailed evaluation process in response to requests for Peace Teams in El Salvador and Honduras. We are working with communities on the ground and wonderful established international organizations to determine the feasibility and appropriateness of sending exploratory MPT Peace Teams to each country. Our first teams to each area would likely be part of Election Monitoring.
If you would like to be on the list to receive more information as these potential new projects develop, please contact NicoleR.personal (or Nicole at 586 419 1070). We would like to hear from you to get an idea of interest in being on peace teams, MPT community support for this project, and more. There are many roles to play in both the evaluation process, so if you believe you can give input on the current situations on the ground in these areas, are considering the idea of being on a team, or think you can offer support in another role, please contact us.
MPT is seeking Spanish speaking potential teamers for the following dates, please contact Nicole as soon as possible if you have any interest (there is no obligation):
Honduras: November 2013 (approximately ten days to two weeks)
El Salvador: March 2014 (approximately ten days)
If you are interested in a new team to Latin America, a local peace team, or getting more involved with MPT in another way: we encourage you to attend one of our training weekends (Thursday through Sunday) to learn more about MPT, nonviolent action, and International Peace Teams:
The Step 2 Nonviolence Training "Retreat" Dates for this potential team are June 06 -9, 2013; please consider attending to learn more about MPT and Teams!
Contact NicoleR.personal, or Nicole at 586 419 1070 for more information or to register.
1 comment:
We will be going to El Salvador at the end of January 2014 for two reasons: 1) election monitoring and accompaniment; and 2) to explore for future team opportunities.
